Huang Biren (Chin Na) is a Chinese actress best recognized for her memorable appearances in a number of popular Media Corporation Channel 8 television shows. She has also been a regular cast member in various Chinese channels since the mid-1990s. She has primarily been a full-time mediator actor since 1988 to early 2008 but still continues to a movie on a small ad-hoc basis after that. Most of her movie roles have been in the late night or late afternoon hours.
Huang began acting in English movies and TV shows in countries such as Australia and the UK before making her Chinese language films in Hong Kong. In the late 1990s, Huang began to be cast in Chinese national television commercials as well as English movies and TV shows. In these roles, Huang displayed her versatility as an actress. In 2000, Huang began a love story in the TV drama “Singapore: Into My Home” with Chow Siu Weer. The TV show, which later became a feature film directed by Jackie Chan, went on to become one of the highest watched Chinese actresses in the world with over 22 million viewers when it was aired in the United Kingdom. This lead to her becoming one of the first Chinese actresses to receive a Best Actress award at the Satellite Awards in the US for her role as the nurse Yip Man in the film “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.”
Huang’s next film role was in the Kung Fu film “The Dam Busters” alongside Jackie Chan. She also had a role in the TV series “MacGyver” opposite Hong Kong actor Ong Mang Lee. Aside from these films, Huang has also been seen in TV series such as” Huang Xiaoming”, “Lion King”, “The Good Wife” and “MacGyver” among many others. These shows have earned her over fifty million dollars in pay over the past decades.
With her many hits, the success of “Huang Biren” has also given birth to a new genre of movie wherein she will be a leading character. The first project in this is a biopic about her life called “The actress Who Vanished”. This is a movie which is to be released in late 2010 or early 2011. Other possible projects in the future include “Lion King”, “Diary of a Lady” and “Love Actually”. In the meantime, it is Huang Biren’s comeback. Her most recent project will most likely be “Lion King” which she will star in alongside Robin Williams and Meryl Streep.
Huang Biren’s path to stardom began at an early age of seven when she was cast in the very popular television show of that time called” Huang Xiaoming”. Later on, she appeared in different plays before landing her first major role in the award-winning movie, “MacGyver” starring Ong Mang Lee.
