Lakshmi Menon was born in Pitampura, Andhra Pradesh, India. She is described as “one of the most sought-after actresses” in Indian cinema. She has appeared in a number of high budget, award winning films. Some of her more popular roles include in Kannan, Velayudham, Karan Johar, Baahubali, Padmak, Bhumika, and Mankatha. She has also acted in some television serials.
Lakshmi Menon first appeared in her first Tamil film Rama in 1983 where she was cast along with Rajinikanth. Since that time she has gone on to play leading characters in several more Tamil movies and won the Film Farewell Award for her role in Velayudham. She has since then gone on to appear in Apu’s Lakshmi, Kaal Bhairao in Bhaidoo, and Kannan in Kannan. Additionally, she has also been nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Lakshmi Menon was one of the main faces of the international television network CBS, which had started telecasting a news program called “neysi channels” in India. The news program was a combination of news, sports, weather, and entertainment. She has since appeared in several other award winning programs, all from prominent network television stations. At the same time, Lakshmi Menon has expanded her role in the Tamil film industry, where she plays a central character in at least six films. Her most recent release Kannan was directed by S.S. Rajamouli.
Lakshmi Menon first made a name for herself when she auditioned for the central role in Bhaidoo, a popular comedy film released by Kamal Amrohi. She lost out to a much younger actress, but her talent saw her being cast in many more major Tamil films. Laksam’, ‘Tribang’ and ‘Thuppak’ where she plays an intricate role and can be seen as a seasoned actress with a trademark elegant features. Her two films ‘Rani’ and ‘Ek Sagar’ that came after her very successful stint in ‘Chak De! Laksam ‘where she plays a lead character in both of them and she is now trying her hand at a variety with her latest film ‘ Chak De! Ek Sagar’ that is due to be released in the latter part of 2021.
