Lauren Holly was one of the more prominent members of the United States Team Canada, which became part of the gold medal winning squad at the Vancouver Games in 2010. As an actress, Holly has made five films, which all were produced in either Canada or the United States. Her first two films that she starred in were The Pursuit of Happyness and Swing Vote. Lauren Holly was also an accomplished ballerina with numerous dance accomplishments throughout her lifetime, including being a member of the U.S. gymnastics team that won a number of medals at the 1992 Olympics in Atlanta.
Lauren Holly has also been in the spotlight for quite some time. She has been an actor on television, an actress in a series of films, and was even a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. In fact, she was so popular on the show that Canadian viewers voted her the cutest dancer during the finale. Her role on American Idol was also memorable for the American audience as she finished second out of a handful of contestants. Lauren Holly has gone on to play several other characters in her career, but she is most famous for playing the lead role in the movie, Swing Vote.
Prior to playing Deputy Sheriff Lauren Holly on the TV show, Lauren Holly was known for her numerous smaller roles in movies and on Broadway. For example, she played the love interest of Bruce Willis’ character in Dumb and Dumber, and she also appeared in the remake of Grease, as well as The Perfect Score opposite Meg Ryan and Shelly Aldrich. These roles certainly don’t help her case for being an American-born, yet Canadian, actor.
Today, Lauren Holly lives in California, and she works as a motivational speaker. As she looks back on her career, she is happy to note that she accomplished a lot, but also realizes that there are many more things that she would have done had she been born in the United States. Her role as Lauren Holly on American Idol was meant to be a one-time appearance. Hopefully, other Americans will take notice of her accomplishments, as well as her gratitude to the United States for everything it has given her. Hopefully, someday Lauren Holly will be seen on Broadway or on American television.
