American stage and screen legend Lisa Edelstein are one of our country’s most successful and beloved actors. After growing up in California, Lisa moved to New York City to live with her mother and stepfather, both of whom were Jewish. At age twelve, she began playing the characters of different dogs in plays, mainly with her two dogs, Cleo and Pepper. She moved on to play different characters in other plays and went on to become known as one of the best known and respected playwrights in this city. After several years away from acting, she started to get into writing. She went on to write books and screenplays, most notably her first novel entitled Just Kids. The book was later turned into a successful play.
Lisa Edelstein has also been nominated for a number of awards for her theater work. She has received Grammys and Golden Globe Awards for her work in drama, including such notable recipients as Best Actor in a Leading Role, Original Screenplay, and Best Director for a Drama or Musical. Her Best Director honors include the Satellite Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement from the Television Academy. She has also won multiple awards for her screenplays, including the 2021 ASC Awards for her role in The Pursuit of Happyness, as well as winning a screenplay Oscar for Bridesmaids.
