Manushi Chhillar is a famous Indian actress and the winner of the first Miss World title. Born in 1994, she began modeling at a very young age. Her career thus far has spanned not just one but multiple national and international borders. She has been nominated for multiple awards at the Miss World Prize categories.
Manushi Chhillar was selected as a winner of the first ever Miss World pageant, held in 1994. During the ceremony, held in London, Manushi Chhillar along with Sushmita Sen and Priya Paul was chosen as “Miss Worldets”, which was later changed to “Miss Universe” as Manushi Chhillar became the first Indian woman to win such a prestigious award. After this event, she joined hands with Manish Malhotra to launch the Manushi Chhillar Foundation, a non-profit that aims at spreading awareness on various health issues. Since then, Manushi Chhillar has gone on to bag a number of acting awards as well as other prizes including the coveted CITES (Convention of International Transport Workers), which is given to those in the transport industry who have won several Emmys.

One notable achievement that Manushi Chhillar has achieved in her acting career is that of scoring 96 points in the class 12 exam, out of which she is the only Indian winner. Manushi Chhillar has since then gone on to bag other awards as well including the best newcomer of the year, best actress award and the best choreographer for the year. Manushi Chhillar’s other honors include the best choreographer for the year, best choreographer overall and the best dancer for the year. She is also one of the few women from India to have acted in both the films and Broadway play, which she did in the play “Kiss the Cookoff”.
Manushi Chhillar began acting when she was just a young girl. She first appeared in a commercial and it was this experience that led her to sign up with the Bombay theatre scene. Later in her career she gained notable success in the musical comedy film ‘On the Times of Thin Ice’ and also went on to feature in ‘Cable Guy’. While working in the Telugu film market, Manushi Chhillar also landed roles in ‘Chak De! India’, ‘Tinker Tail’, ‘Mankatha’ and ‘Follow the Leader’.
An interesting aspect of Manushi Chhillar’s filmography is her contribution to the world of theater. She is the co-writer of the script for the hit historical period drama film ‘Dhoom Reloaded’ and also sang the film’s theme song ‘Mere Hiding Places’. While speaking about the film in an interview in 2021, Manushi Chhillar was quite candid and said “I think it is my greatest role to date… A beautiful woman stealing every man’s heart away from him”. The film did open the door for many other actresses from the Hindi speaking segment to play important roles and get recognized in the field. The most notable of whom were Priyadarshan Soman Nair and Sushmita Sen. After the success of Dhoom 2, Manushi Chhillar was in demand and was known for her elegant style of acting.
Manushi Chhillar became a household name in the Hindi Film industry after her stellar performance in the film ‘Mere Hiding Places’. She went on to star in ‘Nanban’ and ‘Chak De! India’ before crossing over to Hollywood to star in the award winning movie ‘Singh in King Arthur’s Court’. All in all, Manushi Chhillar has gone through a truly remarkable career and has become one of the most accomplished performers in the annals of cinema.
