Patricia Arquette is one of few actresses to have achieved both legendary and commercial success in the same movie industry. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Patricia Arquette became known to Americans through her many popular roles in Hollywood movies of the 1970s. Her first professional acting job was in the TV series “Irene”, which lasted one season. From there, she gained more film roles, most notably appearing in the memorable film “Dirty Laundry” (with Raquel Welch).
Since that time, Patricia Arquette has appeared in a variety of well-known movies and TV shows, including “A Christmas Story” and “E.T.” She has also had an acclaimed turn on Broadway as the lead role in “The Singing Butler”. Aside from her notable roles in films, television, or Broadway, other actors of color have been able to play the lead role in a variety of high-profile TV shows, including Oprah Winfrey in the groundbreaking “The Oprah Show.” Not to mention that in between her numerous TV shows, Patricia Arquette has also made guest appearances on a number of famous TV shows, including “Seinfeld” and “The Simpsons.”
Patricia Arquette’s most notable film role to date would be her starring role in the award-winning” Nightmares”, which was released in 1997. In this film, which was directed by David Fincher, Arquette plays David Storey, who is the sole surviving member of his family following the death of his wife and son. While appearing in a small role in the film, Patricia Arquette also had a chance to shine as a villainess, given her role as the vicious Queenpin. As you might expect, Queenpin is quite the character to bring down in the annals of both film history and pop culture, as she consistently proves to be one of the most formidable bad girls of all time.

After making a name for herself in both of her Chicago-based film roles, Patricia Arquette decided to venture outside of the boundaries of her homeland. After turning down an offer to star in a Chinese film to play the lead role of an Asian character (which also happened to be in a musical), she accepted an offer to appear in the award-winning movie Wildflower. Although not exactly a true romance in the traditional sense, Wildflower nonetheless managed to garner a number of awards and accolades from the American Film Institute. Additionally, after seeing the movie, several producers from the United Kingdom wanted to hire Patricia Arquette to play the lead role of Cleopatra in a movie remake of the original Greek drama.
What does it mean for an actor to have their early life featured in a biopic? Well, considering that Patricia Arquette’s early life is so incredibly diverse, this is actually a very fitting character for her. Although she never pursued a career as a dancer, she was an incredibly talented actress who appeared in such memorable roles as “Dazed and Confused,” “psycho” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” Therefore, it is easy to see why such a versatile actress would make for a great candidate to star in Wildflower. In addition, since this is a movie that chronicles the life of the actress from her childhood up to her death, it only makes sense that she would be a natural choice to play the part of Queen Latifah.
After successfully playing the lead role of Queen Latifah in Wildflower, Patricia Arquette next went on to play the title role in the award-winning movie The Pursuit of Happyness. Despite being a bit late to the big screen, she still managed to capture the audiences’ attention with her excellent performance. More recently, she has been nominated for an Emmy Award for her starring role in the miniseries revival of The Blind Side, playing the role of mistress to John Turturro. This is just a small sample of the roles that she has portrayed, which only proves that there are no limits when it comes to being a successful actress in the medium. In fact, it is safe to say that the future of television is looking bright for all of the leading actresses that are currently thriving in the film industry.
