The Roma are a long distant ethnic group that first populated the region of Roma and the Romani peoples from India. The original Roma were nomadic tribesmen who settled permanently in the Romani lands of India. They practiced a nomadic lifestyle riding cattle and sheep and hunting wild goats and boars. They hunted and gathered wood, planted gardens, dug canals and engaged in agriculture. Roma culture developed along with their nomadic lifestyle.
The Roma people were not one unified group. Different linguistic groups emerged and separated from each other throughout their existence in India. When the Brahmins migrated to South India, they brought the practices and language that they had with them. The Dravidian tribe also migrated to Kerala and brought with them their practices, which in turn spread into the various other tribes that inhabited the South. The Dravidians settled in areas along the peripheries of the Thar Desert and spread their culture to the regions of West Bengal, Orissa, Assam and even Bihar.

There is much diversity within the Roma people. They have different sizes, shapes and colors depending on which tribe they belong to. Roma men have a deeper shade of skin than women, whereas Roma women have lighter skin than the men.
There are many factors that determine the Roma Size. These include height, weight, build, face shape, facial features, slender physique and the family history. Many Roma fall under the category of dark skinned people as compared to light-skinned ones. There is great variability in Roma measurements and one would have to do some research and comparative study in order to come up with a reliable Roma measurement.
Roma measurement is used in many scientific studies like Paleopathology, Population genetics, Anthropology etc. Roma measurements and ratios have shown a steady increase over a period of time. One can use this data in order to come up with accurate Roma statistics. The Roma are not very genetically distinguishable from other people.
Roma are known to have migrated along with their ancestors during the migration period. There are many cases where Roma families have mixed blood with the local populations from the surrounding regions. Thus, one can conclude that Roma originates from Europe but the exact origin cannot be ascertained with any degree of accuracy as there are no traces of Roma settlements at the Indus Valley Civilisation or any other period. Roma are believed to have migrated from Asia Minor and then migrated to the regions now known as Roma and beyond.
