Sandra Riley Tang is one of the most popular modern Asian actresses. She is best known for her roles in television dramas, martial arts movies and as an actress in the films of Hollywood. Born in Singapore, she earned a degree in drama at the University of London. Later, she moved to Los Angeles where she pursued her acting career by joining the likes of Jean Simmons, Chow Yun-hoe and Hong Kong actor Ong Kaat. Now, Sandra is primarily known as an actress in the world of television.
Born in December 1992, Sandra began studying dance at an institute in Malaysia before shifting over to the United Kingdom to continue her studies. She was a member of the popular local pop quartet The Singing Bowls, before she became an actress. From there, she rose to prominence when she was cast as the lead role in the martial arts film The Replacements. She went on to star in the equally successful Kung Mangai (The Expendables), the action-packed ensemble drama Tomb Raider: The Sequel, the animated science fiction movie Yoga with Edward and the forthcoming comedy Trainwreck.
Sandra started her musical career in the mid-nineties, performing with the Sandra riley Tang, a popular quartet that also featured Ng Hui Kiong, then known as Ng Zai. The quartet achieved critical acclaim, especially for their rendition of the hit song We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. Sandra later went on to appear in the well-received Kung Mangai. This film paved the way for Ng to receive his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Then came the even more successful Confidential, which pitted Sandra against her former Kung Mangai costars in an all-out battle for supremacy of the genre. She ultimately lost out to Ng in that movie, but the experience helped her develop into one of today’s most prolific and respected female actors.

After a long absence from the screen, Sandra Riley Tang returned to the limelight in December of last year, when she played the lead role in the well-received Singapore movie Ong Kuk Eng. She plays Lee Seung Ho, a once-reigning national hero who falls from grace after falling out of love. The film not only served as a sequel to the well-received Kung Mangai but also starred appearances by various other well-known characters from Singapore’s past and from its present, such as the late Singaporean actor Ong Kurnez, who played the role of a villain in the original Kung Mangai.
Finally, Sandra Riley Tang made a star turn in the hit movie Ong Nga Tai. This quartet of actress and singer-co-actors saw their first day of work together nearly two weeks ago. Sandra and Ben had been dating for more than a year before they got together, and the couple surprised everyone with their speedy formation of the quartet, which includes Benjamin, who is now playing the role of the group leader. Ben’s role was tasked with filling the shoes of previous leaders such as Woo Tae Hee, Chee Soon Juan, and Youssef Al Meknurs. Sandra became the most important member of the quartet after the casting of Youssef.
All in all, Sandra Riley Tang has proven herself to be a versatile character actor, and she looks set to continue with more roles in the future. Benjy Wertheimer and Ong Kuk Eng are already making a name for themselves in the world of movie casting, and it won’t be long before they will be joining the ranks of internationally renowned actors such asanu jonsong, Michael Caine, and Sandra Riley Tang. It is safe to say that Sandra’s path to stardom has been quite fulfilling one so far, which is why we can only expect good things for her in the future.
