Anuradha, better known by her stage name Tara, was an Indian actress, best known for her minor role in Kannada films, and political activist. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2021, and is now a nominee member of the Karnataka legislative council. She has not been in the limelight since then. She appeared in her first Hindi film ‘Shodh’ in 1980. It was directed by Vijay Rameshwaram. In this film, she played a girl called Mandukparni, who was sent away as a nanny to a hotel. She soon starts to fall in love with the son of the owner of the hotel, played by Kamal Amrohi. They later start dating and later fall in love with each other. The film also chronicles their struggle to retain their honour and stay with their commitment to each other.
After a few more films, including a leading role in the popular comedy ‘Mankatha’, Tara was out of the public’s eye for a while and appeared in some less popular films. However, she has now returned to the limelight, playing an important character in the crime thriller, ‘Chak De! India.
