Vanessa Bell Calloway was born in Harlem and grew up in Brooklyn, New York City. She became a teenager when her mother was murdered by a member of the Aryan Resistance Movement. She managed to escape to Los Angeles, California at a very young age, where she appeared in a series of films, most notably, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Vanessa Bell Calloway’s breakout film is probably American Viva Liza, which was first released in 1990. This is also where her love affair with dance began. She would perform throughout the duration of the play as a dancer and singer in what is quite possibly the best show ever put on stage, Inkwell.
