Yogeeta Bali was one of the first Indian women to be photographed by American photographer, James Gunning. James and Yogeeta became so impressed with each other that they decided to get married and live in America, which happened in 1967. Yogeeta Bali was so taken with the lifestyle in America that she considered settling permanently in America as her dream come true. As it happened, however, her marriage to American businessman Rajiv Dhananjay was brief and as a result, Yogeeta Bali returned to India where she spent the next two years studying Yoga and other forms of meditation.
Yogeeta Bali achieved worldwide popularity as a result of her roles in the Hollywood blockbuster, Bombay Blue, as well as Chowras, an epic comedy directed by Kamal Amrohi. She then went on to play a major role in the Hindi movie, Bhumika in the equally successful Baahubali. The latter made Yogeeta Bali a name among Hindi cinema directors as well as creating a role for her in the Hollywood blockbuster, Apne. However, the film that propelled Yogeeta Bali to stardom was Chowras. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film did open various audiences’ eyes as to what real Ayurvedic cures are and how they can work wonders on the body. The film also starred Ranbir Kapoor and Ajit Manu.
Yogeeta Bali’s other two films that resonated with the masses were Apne and Baahubali.
